The September Paper Pumpkin consistently is my favorite each year.  I think it's the fall colors.  I am just ready for them.....and sweatshirt weather.....by the end of August.  This month's kit is extra cool because it makes cards -AND- gift/treat containers.  BONUS!

And the project comes together quite quickly.  The embossing on the box is so pretty, and a perfect touch!

Paper Pumpkin offers a great project, without the planning.  It is portable to craft on the fly, or perfect to create while you watch TV, the choice is yours!  Everything you need to complete the project, in a little orange box!

Plus, there's somethin' special coming, too!  The October and November kits are a two part kit!  Let Stampin' Up! get you ready for the holidays.  Here is a peek!

Ready for Christmas bundle meets Halloween

Mr. Spider created with the Ready for Christmas stamp set and Christmas Staircase die set.

The first time I saw the Ready for Christmas stamp set, I saw the garland stamp as a hairy spider leg.  Please don't ask why.  I don't know why.  But I ordered this bundle because I had to make today's card!

It came out just as I envisioned!  That is not always the case!  Often those crazy visions turn into epic fails.  But I love how he turned out!  And now that I have that hairy spider leg out of my mind, I can move forward, and create some Christmas cards with this bundle, because it is amazing!!

Mr. Spider's details. He is made with the Ready for Christmas bundle.

Tips to Recreate this Card:

  • the Pumpkin Pie card base is cut 5 1/5" x 8 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4"
  • the background is Spooky Night designer series paper cut 5" x 3 3/4", on a layer of 5 1/8" x 3 7/8" Basic Black cardstock.

For the spider, I stamped in VersaMark ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder so he had texture, and stood out better on the basic black cardstock.

To make the Legs

  • stamp and heat emboss 4 pieces of garland, than die cut using the coordinating Christmas Staircase die set
  • embossed 4 more legs using the mirror-image stamping technique, and die cut those as well (the die does not cut mirror images, so line up as best you can)

To make the Body:

  • stamp and heat emboss the large christmas tree
  • using the Starburst punch, punch one piece
  • glue him all together using glue dots and mini dimensionals to make him look 3-D
  • using the size of your choice, add 2 googlie eyes

What do you think?  Can you make a fall or Halloween card using this bundle?

Endless possibilities with In the City Host set

Welcome to the block card made with In the City host set from Stampin' Up!

I finally pulled out this stamp set and I am in love!  I will admit, at first all those little stamps where intimidating, but once I got going, the possibilities were endless!

This was my first go.  I made the same basic card, with changes in the details, for 2 separate purposes.  The first was to welcome a friend into her brand new home, and the second, to help a friend welcome a beautiful baby girl.  I was able to customize the house to look like the real deal, and if you look closely on the second card, I swapped out the sun for a stork, delivering a baby girl.

In the City host set makes the perfect baby card

This set makes customizing a card, right down to the little details, a snap!

In the City stamp set has all the little details, including a moving van!

Both cards were made using our convenient whisper white notecards & envelopes, and the background was made quick and easy with a layer of Pick a Pattern designer series paper layered onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.  Once I created my mini scene, I used the 2" circle punch for the perfect sized circle to coordinate with the Starburst punch, which made the Real Red layer beneath it (Melon Mambo for the baby card).  The beautiful 3/8" shimmer ribbon in black was the perfect accent to finish it up, when layered with the sentiment.

What is a host set you may ask?  It is an exclusive stamp set only available to customers who host a workshop, or place an order of $150 or more.  This entitles you to host rewards, AKA FREE stuff!  You may choose to spend your host dollars however you choose, which includes purchasing these exclusive stamp sets.  And this set is included.  It is an amazing deal for 60 stamps!  And I promise, it will not disappoint!

Count Your Blessings with Colored Veneer Embellishments

Count My Blessings stamp set and colored Touches of Nature Elements veneer embellishments

I love this sentiment.  It's from the Count My Blessings stamp set in the new Holiday Catalog. I will use this a ton this holiday season!

This card also uses the Ruffled Dynamic Embossing Folder, from the Annual Catalog, to create the background, and the Painted Harvest stamp set for the leaves, which are punched out with the new Leaf punch.  I dressed it up a little with gold glimmer paper, and Year of Cheer metallic washi tape!

I also added a Touches of Nature Element.  I love veneer embellishments, but I struggle with how plain they sometimes look on a project.

In come my ink pads!

Did you know you can color them to coordinate with any project?

Yup!  You sure can!  And it is super easy!

Coloring Wood Veneer Embellishments

This adds a perfect touch to any project!

I love getting into fall color combinations!  Here is the one I used on today's project:

Quick & Easy Carols of Christmas Card

Carols of Christmas stamp set, Be Merry designer series paper and Quilted Christmas ribbon

Let's face it -- sometimes you want a quick & easy card.

The large sentiments in the new Carols of Christmas stamp set lend themselves to quick cards.  Now, don't get me wrong, there are some great stamps in this set to make amazing cards, but today, I wanted quick!

Be Merry designer series paper

I busted out my Be Merry designer series paper featured in the Annual catalog, for a traditional Christmas color combination, and added some gold glimmer paper to dress it up.

The Quilted Christmas 1/4" ribbon from the Holiday catalog was the perfect ribbon choice to pull my colors together.

The gold enamel shapes are a must with gold glimmer paper!

Quick Tip: Adding an embellishment, like enamel shapes, rhinestones, or pearls, can quickly pull a card together.

Dynamic Duo glimmer paper and metallic shapes

To recreate this project:

  • Cut a Cherry Cobbler card base 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", score at 4 1/4"
  • Cut a piece of Be Merry DSP to 3" x 4 1/4"
  • Cut 1 gold glimmer scalloped square
  • Cut a Whisper White square smaller than scalloped glimmer square (for sentiment)
  • Cut a 4 1/4" strip of gold glimmer paper with the Decorative Ribbon Border punch
