Today's project combines simple layering and a pop of color.

A pop of color and added dimension using Shimmery Crystal Effects.

Details were added with the scalloped edge, made with the Seasonal Layers dies, and some dimension with Shimmery Crystal Effects on the heart.

To create this project:

  • cut a 4 1/4" x 11" Pool Party card base, and score at 5 1/2"
  • cut a 1 7/8" x 2 3/8" piece of Pool Party cardstock
  • Cut a 3 3/4" x 5" piece of designer paper
  • cut a 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" and 1 3/4" x 2 1/4" piece of Smoky Slate cardstock
  • cut a 1 5/8" x 2 1/8" piece of Whisper White cardstock

Use a scallop die to cut the bottom of the designer paper.  Adhere paper to the smoky slate layer, than die cut bottom of the Smoky Slate Layer.  Adhere together.  Wrap with ribbon, and tie with twine.  Adhere to card base.  Stamp image in Smoky Slate ink on Whisper White cardstock.  Adhere to Smoky Slate layer, then Pool Party layer.  Adhere to card front with dimensional.  Color heart, than add crystal effects.  Let dry.  Stamp inside sentiment in Smoky Slate ink.

Endless possibilities with In the City Host set

Welcome to the block card made with In the City host set from Stampin' Up!

I finally pulled out this stamp set and I am in love!  I will admit, at first all those little stamps where intimidating, but once I got going, the possibilities were endless!

This was my first go.  I made the same basic card, with changes in the details, for 2 separate purposes.  The first was to welcome a friend into her brand new home, and the second, to help a friend welcome a beautiful baby girl.  I was able to customize the house to look like the real deal, and if you look closely on the second card, I swapped out the sun for a stork, delivering a baby girl.

In the City host set makes the perfect baby card

This set makes customizing a card, right down to the little details, a snap!

In the City stamp set has all the little details, including a moving van!

Both cards were made using our convenient whisper white notecards & envelopes, and the background was made quick and easy with a layer of Pick a Pattern designer series paper layered onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.  Once I created my mini scene, I used the 2" circle punch for the perfect sized circle to coordinate with the Starburst punch, which made the Real Red layer beneath it (Melon Mambo for the baby card).  The beautiful 3/8" shimmer ribbon in black was the perfect accent to finish it up, when layered with the sentiment.

What is a host set you may ask?  It is an exclusive stamp set only available to customers who host a workshop, or place an order of $150 or more.  This entitles you to host rewards, AKA FREE stuff!  You may choose to spend your host dollars however you choose, which includes purchasing these exclusive stamp sets.  And this set is included.  It is an amazing deal for 60 stamps!  And I promise, it will not disappoint!

Sweet Honey Bee Shaker Card

Hi Friends, I am back today with one last project using the A Little Wild bundle.

Sweet Bee Shaker card made with A Little Wild stamp set and Little Loves framelits dies

This bundle has been really fun to create with!  Have you ever found a stamp set or bundle that you start making a specific project with, than you find yourself creating more and more with it, because it is so fun to work with?  That's how I feel about this bundle!  As you know from my last post, I am in love with the little bees!  So this project was made specifically for those little guys, and of course, I had to make a bee hive with little bees inside! What better way to do that, than with a shaker card!

Sweet bee shaker card made with A Little Wild stamp set and Little Loves framelits dies

To create this card, cut the following pieces of cardstock:

  • 4 1/4" x 11" piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock, scored at 5 1/2"
  • 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Basic Black cardstock
  • 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" piece of Whisper White cardstock
  • 2" x 2" piece of Whisper White cardstock
  • 1 1/4" x 2 1/2" piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock
  • 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" piece of Window Sheet

Stamp the bee hive randomly across the front of the Whisper White layer in Daffodil Delight ink.  Stamp 3 sets of bees on the 2" Whisper White piece in Archival Black ink, than color them with the Daffodil Delight watercolor pencil.  Using the bee hive die from the Little Loves framelits set, die cut a hive just off center near the bottom of the Whisper White layer, and use the bee die to cut out the bees.  Now, make the shaker.  On the back side of the Whisper White layer, adhere the piece of window sheet using Fast Fuse adhesive.  Than, applying Foam Adhesive Strips to the window sheet, outline the bee hive.  Place some bees (face down) inside the hive.  I also added some black and irridescent sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment.  Now, you can choose to apply the Basic Black layer over the top, but I cheat, and add a second layer of window sheet over this area.  I find it is easier to line up my layers, so this is what I did.  I than adhered the front layer to the Basic Black layer.  Next, tie a double piece of Basic Black solid twine around the center, and adhered this piece, with dimensionals, to the Daffodil Delight card base.  For the sentiment, I used the Cool Treats stamp set because the word Sweet was perfect!  This was also stamped in Archival Black ink.  For the right edge of the sentiment strip, I lined up the bee hive die along the edge of the strip, and die cut an edge to fit along the shaker window.  Punch the other end with the Banner Triple Punch, and adhere along the bottom of card, lining up with the hive.   Embellish as you choose with the little bees.

The colors I choose for this card are simple.  You could substitute Crushed Curry if you wanted a bolder golden color.

Hello there, honey bear.......

Such a cute sentiment!

Hello there, honey bear! made with the A Little Wild Bundle #145327

It goes so well with this adorable little bear in the A Little Wild stamp set.  I have had fun playing with the bundle this week.  And those bees in the coordinating Little Loves framelits die set.....I am in love with them!

It was fun building dimension into this card. I built up the bee hive, and used dimensionals between layers, and under some of the bees.  In person, it looks great!

Create dimension by stacking multiple die cuts and using regular #104430 and mini dimensionals #144108

The color combination that I used is soft and perfect for a baby boy or all occasion card.

To recreate this card, cut the following layers:

  • Card base of Soft Sky, cut to 4 1/4" x 11", score at 5 1/2"
  • Crumb Cake 2 3/4" square
  • So Saffron 2 5/8" square
  • Whisper White 2 1/2" square

Stamp the bear, one bee hive, and 2 sets of bees.  Color with watercolor pencils and blender pens.  Cut out using the Little Loves dies.  Cut several additional bee hives and one border piece.  Trim apart the front and back bear images.  Adhere the Crumb Cake and So Saffron layers together.  Adhere the border piece behind the Crumb Cake layer.  Tie a piece of Crumb Cake woven ribbon around the square.  Stamp grass along bottom edge of the Whisper White square in Wild Wasabi, and layer onto square.  Using Tombo multipurpose glue, adhere several layers of the bee hive together, to build dimension.  Add colored bee hive to top.   Build a scene on the square, and adhere to card front.  Add bees as desired.

Quick Tip

Die cut several of the same image, than glue on top of one another.  This creates a thick image, and adds dimension to your projects.

So, are you loving this bundle?  I would love to see your creations using it.  Grab your bundle now using the Shop Now tab in my sidebar, or by clicking on any of the links below.  Than show me what you create with it!  I still have another project using this bundle coming soon though, so stop back!

Wild About You

This is how I feel about the new catalog!  I am loving the new products...and those new In Colors?  Just -- WOW!  And although I did not use any of the new In Colors on this project, I had fun creating with a new bundle.

A Little Wild Bundle #145327

I had my eye on this cute bundle, A Little Wild.  The images are adorable!  The border die is beautiful!  And I just so happened to need a baby card for a new little someone who joined a friend's family this week.  This card was simple to make, and done in a monochromatic color scheme.  I loved how the catalog sample had the border die as a background, so I used that as my inspiration for my card.

In Crumb Cake, I made a standard top-fold card base using a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of cardstock, scored in half.  I than added a layer of Crumb Cake to the front, cut to 3 3/4" x 5".  The background was created with 7 border die cuts spaced evenly over the front layer.  The lion was stamped in Archival Black Ink, and die cut.  I divided him (stay tuned for a project using this tip soon!) before adding it to the card front.  He was watercolored, and attached to the card with dimensionals, with a bit of metallic black thread behind him.  The sentiment was stamped on a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock in Archival Black ink, trimmed on one end, and tucked behind the lion.

 Quick Tip

Use the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets to adhere detailed die cuts to your card.  Simply add your cardstock to your adhesive sheet, run through your Big Shot to cut, peel the back off, and adhere to your card with no adhesive mess!
