Color Fusers May 2019: Night of Navy, Pear Pizzazz and Grapefruit Grove

The color challenge this month was a tough one for me!  Flowers seemed easy.  Now, I know there are not many blue flowers, but all flowers can be blue in my world.  How would you put these colors together?

I chose one of my favorite retiring products, the Jar of Love stamp set with the coordinating Everyday Jars dies.  These will go away when the current Annual catalog retires on June 3rd, or while supplies last.   Yup - I said it! They are going away people!  Yikes!

I love all the little bits included in this set.  It's so much more than flowers, like I used today.

How would you fill your jar (or not)?

Leave me a comment telling me what you would make!

To recreate my card:

  • Cut a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Whisper White card base and score at 4 1/4"
  • Cut a 4" x 5 1/4" Whisper White layer
  • Cut a 4 1/8" x 2 3/4" piece of Grapefruit Grove designer paper
  • Cut a large stitched rectangle from Whisper White cardstock

I started by stamping multiple flowers in Night of Navy ink, stamping off once to decrease the intensity of the flowers.   The water in the jar was made with a Night of Navy watercolor wash on vellum cardstock. The Faceted Dots make perfect flower centers, and to finish it off, I had to add a little shimmer by coloring the flowers with Wink of Stella.

Add some Wink of Stella for a little shimmer.

Occasions Catalog Sneak Peak: High Tide Stamp Set

I am so grateful for the recent experience of presenting at the Stampin' Up! On Stage event.  It took place in Madison, Wisconsin last month.   On Stage is a semi-annual event where demonstrators gather to learn new techniques, business tips, and see and play with new products.  And, of course, there is always the opportunity to meet up with friends from across the country, and even the world, to stamp and socialize together.  I always make new friends.  Stampin' Up! demonstrators are some of the friendliest people I know, always willing to share and have fun.  The creative ability within this community is simply amazing!   On Stage is one of the best parts of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator!  Doesn't it sound fun?  Why not join my team, and you will enjoy the opportunity to experience On Stage with me.

For my projects, I was provided with brand new product, which will debut in January, when the upcoming Occasions catalog goes live.  I was asked to present projects, showcasing the features of those products provided.  It was a lot of fun!  Once I started creating, the projects came together in a snap!  I know you will love this stamp set once you see the beautiful projects made with it.

This was my favorite project which I presented.

High Tide Shadowbox Card, High Tide Stamp Set, watercolor paper and aqua painters, By the Shore designer series paper
High Tide Shadowbox Card, High Tide Stamp Set, watercolor paper and aqua painters, By the Shore designer series paper

This is called a shadowbox card.  It is fairly simple to make, yet looks amazing since it is 3-D.  For this card, I cut 2 pieces of cardstock (Dapper Denim and Very Vanilla) to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  They were each scored at 1/2", 3/4", 4 3/4", and 5" on the long edge.  I than cut an oval window on the Dapper Denim piece, using the layering oval dies.  With jet black Staz-On ink, I stamped the birds onto a window sheet, than layered it behind the oval window.  Inside the card, I inserted watercolor paper with a watercolored sunset made using reinkers and an aqua painter.  To complete the inside, I fussy cut a lighthouse and, using dimensionals, added it to the watercolored scene.  Than I adhered the front and back layers together, along the short edge of the cardstock.  Once that was done, I cut a piece of By the Shore designer series paper 3 3/4" x 4", cut an oval from the center using an oval one size larger than the window, and adhered it to the card front.  I than added a sentiment.  I  love how it turned out, and hope you do as well.  Try a shadowbox card if you have not made one before, than share it with me!

The color palatte for this card is beautiful, isn't it?  Try it!

Candy Corn Treat--Yum!

Halloween is such a fun time of year......creating a great costume, planning for a fun evening, and, of course, trick-or-treating!  I am not sure which is more fun, handing out the treats and seeing all the kiddos, or the trick-or-treating itself.  But yummy treats are fun!  You may be the giver, or the receiver of such goodness, but regardless, how can a candy corn treat not remind you of all the fun that comes with Halloween?  So, how about this project.....it uses some of my favorite stamps from the Holiday Catalog.

Jar of Haunts (page 17) is a fun set no matter how you look at it.  Fall plus Halloween rolled into one!  As a bonus, it coordinates perfectly with the Everyday Jars Framelits from the Annual Catalog (page 192).

Jar of Haunts, Everyday Jars Framelits, Halloween Night designer series paper & Bakers Twine

This little goody is easy to make.  I created the treat jar by first stamping a jar, than the candy corn inside.  I colored the candy corn with Stampin' Write markers (these are great amazing!).  I added Mr. Spider for a spooky little touch.  Than, I die cut the jar using the Everyday Jars Framelits.  The card base is Pumpkin Pie cardstock, with a layer of Halloween Night designer series paper.  I folded a doily in half, attached to the card front, than adhered my jar with dimensionals.  The Halloween Night Baker's Twine coordinates perfectly to decorate the jar.  The Happy Halloween sentiment, from Teeny Tiny Wishes, was all that I needed to wrap this up.
