Heat Embossing

Color Fusers Blog Hop October 2019

The Stargazing stamp set from the 2019-2020 Annual catalog paired with Black Foil sheets and Grapefruit Grove, Terracotta Tile, and Cajun Craze ink.

Welcome to another Color Fusers blog hop, I am glad you are joining us!

CF October 2019

This month's color challenge felt like fall to me, and includes Grapefruit Grove, Terracotta Tile, Cajun Craze, and Black.

I was very tempted to dive into a fall project.  But I resisted, and instead, I reached for a stamp set from the Annual catalog I had not yet used, called Stargazing.  The sentiments in it are just lovely!

And as we move into the Thanksgiving season, I have so much to be thankful for!  This card will be perfect to share a note with my family, or a friend, to tell them how grateful I am to have them in my life!

The Black foil sheets are so beautiful #147898.

I chose to bring the black in by using the beautiful Black foil sheets as a background layer.  And Shimmer Black embossing powder?  Yes, please!!  It is so hard to appreciate in the photo, but it is simply gorgeous in person.

The Shimmery Black embossing powder is a must have! #149512

To create this card:

  • cut a Terracotta Tile card base 4 1/4" x 11" and score at 5 1/2"
  • cut a front layer of black foil 4" x 5" and die cut the scalloped side edge
  • cut a Whisper White top layer with the 3 3/8" x 4 7/8" stitched rectangle die

Stamp the swirl in Grapefruit Grove on the Whisper White layer.  Stamp off once before stamping to soften the color.  Add stars in Terracotta Tile and Cajun Craze ink.  Heat emboss the sentiment and some random stars in the background in Shimmer Black embossing powder.  Die cut the sentiment with the stitched square die before adding to the card front with dimensionals.  Finish it all off with a few punched black foil stars.

Stampin' Tip:  To create interest to your background, vary the intensity of your color.  This is especially effective on a background when repeatedly stamping the same, or multiple images.  An easy way to get this effect is to stamp your image on a piece of scrap paper before stamping your project.

Ready for Christmas bundle meets Halloween

Mr. Spider created with the Ready for Christmas stamp set and Christmas Staircase die set.

The first time I saw the Ready for Christmas stamp set, I saw the garland stamp as a hairy spider leg.  Please don't ask why.  I don't know why.  But I ordered this bundle because I had to make today's card!

It came out just as I envisioned!  That is not always the case!  Often those crazy visions turn into epic fails.  But I love how he turned out!  And now that I have that hairy spider leg out of my mind, I can move forward, and create some Christmas cards with this bundle, because it is amazing!!

Mr. Spider's details. He is made with the Ready for Christmas bundle.

Tips to Recreate this Card:

  • the Pumpkin Pie card base is cut 5 1/5" x 8 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4"
  • the background is Spooky Night designer series paper cut 5" x 3 3/4", on a layer of 5 1/8" x 3 7/8" Basic Black cardstock.

For the spider, I stamped in VersaMark ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder so he had texture, and stood out better on the basic black cardstock.

To make the Legs

  • stamp and heat emboss 4 pieces of garland, than die cut using the coordinating Christmas Staircase die set
  • embossed 4 more legs using the mirror-image stamping technique, and die cut those as well (the die does not cut mirror images, so line up as best you can)

To make the Body:

  • stamp and heat emboss the large christmas tree
  • using the Starburst punch, punch one piece
  • glue him all together using glue dots and mini dimensionals to make him look 3-D
  • using the size of your choice, add 2 googlie eyes

What do you think?  Can you make a fall or Halloween card using this bundle?

Build a Birthday Glitter Card and Blue Water Bloggers Blog Hop

In a few short weeks, the 2016-2017 Annual catalog and 2017 Occasions catalog will retire, and with it, lots of really amazing products.  Some of these have become my favorites!  If you are hopping along with the Blue Water Bloggers, thanks for joining the fun!  Enjoy one last look at the great products we are featuring.  This is your last chance to get them before they are gone!

Build a Birthday stamp set with Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Stamped in Watermelon Wonder, Flirty Flamingo, Blushing Bride, and Cucumber Crush ink.

Today I would like to share a stamp set that was a go to for fast cards.  I added a twist with some glitter to make it extra special.  This card uses several retiring products, including one of my favorite ink colors, Watermelon Wonder.  Once it is gone, I will have to find a new favorite, but for now, Watermelon Wonder, I still love you!

I stamped this card with this color combo:

Now, to make this, you will want to cut your cardstock as follows:

            Watermelon Wonder 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2"

            Blushing Bride layer 3 3/4" x 5"

            Whisper White layer 3 5/8" x 4 7/8"

Once your cardstock is cut, stamp your cake in any color combination of choice, than add your glitter and ribbon.  Adding the Dazzling Diamonds glitter makes this card.  The shimmer is amazing and just gorgeous!

I have included a video, so you can see how I added the Dazzling Diamonds glitter!  It is my first video, so bear with me!  If you don't want to use glitter, clear Wink of Stella could be an alternative.

All the retiring products can be found here.  Don't miss out -- this is your last chance to snag them!  The retiring products I used include:  Build a Birthday stamp set, Balloon Adventures stamp set, Watermelon Wonder cardstock and ink, Cucumber Crush ink, Heat & Stick Powder, and the Flirty Flamingo 3/8" ruched ribbon.

A Special Valentine with Layering Love

With Valentine's day coming up, we are all looking to have something for that special someone.  I have been busy making valentine's for my kids to share, but took some time to create a special card for my Valentine.

Layering Love with Real Red Glitter embossing powder and Sweet & Sassy framelits

I love the large sentiments in the stamp set Layering Love from the annual catalog.  They make a great focal point, and with little else, make it easy to pull a card together quickly.  I jazzed this one up a bit with all kinds of glimmer for the special occasion. The Real Red and Emerald Envy Glitter Embossing Powder, which carried over from the holiday catalog, is simply gorgeous.  It pairs beautifully with our glimmer papers.  I couldn't resist using it for this valentine.  Change up the colors on this card to silver, gold or all white, and it would make a striking anniversary or wedding card.

Layering Love stamp set, Real Red glitter embossing powder and Sweet & Sassy framelits

To make this card, start with a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of thick Whisper White cardstock, scored at 5 1/2" for the card base.  Than cut a 4" x 5 1/4" layer of Whisper White for the card front.  I stamped the small heart from the Layering Love set randomly across the card front in Real Red ink.  To make the large heart, I stamped the Love sentiment with Versamark onto Shimmery White cardstock, and heat embossed using the Real Red glitter embossing powder.  Using the Sweet & Sassy framelits, I die cut the sentiment, than layered it onto a Real Red glimmer paper heart cut one size larger.  The metallic thread is one of my favorite accessories, and I had to add some silver behind my heart.  Now it was ready to be added to my card front.  But first, I tied 5/8" Silver satin ribbon around the Whisper White front layer, added a silver foil doily, than adhered my heart over it using dimensionals.  For good measure, a few rhinestones scattered on the front layer and a silver enamel heart by the sentiment finished it off nicely.  I think know he will love it!
